Easter Eggsplosion!
This past Saturday (March 19th) a group of high school students and leaders had the prviliage of serving families at Prairie View Apartments. A joint venture between Glenwood Life Groups, Brush Prairie Baptist Church, and the Glenwood High School Ministry, our Easter Eggsplosion was all about showing God's love to children and parents in our community.
The high school students met at church at 11:00am to pack eggs for the event. It is a tedious job to put prizes into over 2,000 eggs, but once we got in the groove, we were done in no time! With eggs packed, we loaded tables, chairs, and other supplies on the church bus bound for the apartment complex.
At 1:00pm the event kicked off with food and fun! CEF brought a crew to do facepainting as they told children about the God who sent His Son for them. They also put on an energizing puppet show for the kids that pointed to the true significance of Easter. While families ate, talked, and milled about, our students set up the Easter egg hunts and played soccer with the kids. At 2:00pm we gathered the first group of children (0-4 year olds) for their hunt. Once they finished, we ran hunts for 5-8 year olds and 9-14 year olds. It was a blast watching all the kids descend on the field searching for eggs!
It is a privilage to share God's generosity and love with others! I am thankful for Gordon Anderson's leadership in making this event happen. I am also thankful for our high school students' desire to see God's mission go forward by living out God's love in our community!
